Assistant Care Manager

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, we are looking for an Assistant Care Manager for this full time, permanent position. You will be responsible for supporting and leading the clinical team ensuring clinical excellence is at the forefront of everything we do. You may be a Senior Nurse in Aged Care with the right attitude wanting to step up. Based in Christchurch, Metlifecare The Village Palms has an excellent working environment with a beautiful modern Rest Home and Hospital.
You will also need to be flexible to cover RN shifts as required and be available to share the "On Call" with the team.
Standard days of work are Sundays to Thursdays

Some of the great things you will be doing include.
- Using your clinical skills to access and identify the needs of our residents to be able to formulate/review individual care plans.
- Ensure compassionate and excellent quality of care is provided to all residents.
- Develop lasting relationships with our residents and their families/ whanau.
- Support the Nurse Manager to lead and manage a team of registered nurses, ensuring day to day high levels of clinical delivery. Ensuring clinical compliance meets auditing requirements.
- Supporting, identifying, and upskilling the needs and requirements of the registered nurses and care workers, as well as providing appropriate direction and delegation.
- Working and liaising closely with the Business Care Manager to undertake risk management, quality projects and improvements.
- Support the 'Clinical On-Call' roster.
- In the absence of the Nurse Manager pick up delegated management & financial duties such approving time & attendance records for Payroll
- Aged care experience with management or advance clinical practice preferred
- Current Annual Practicing certificate and First Aid Certificate.
- Current Inter Rai certification.
- Up to date knowledge on wound care.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership and communication skills.
- You will also have: a helpful, team player attitude and a caring, respectful manner which is important in our aged care environment.
- Provide Nursing Practice in a culturally safe manner and supports the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Upholds the Rights of the Health and Disability Code.
