About the position
Are you ready to shape the future of automation at a global scale? As the Global Automation Engineering Manager at Flora Food Group, you'll be at the forefront of revolutionizing our manufacturing processes, driving innovation in automation, and leading the charge toward digital transformation. Your mission: to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge automation and Operational Technology (OT) into our factories, ensuring we produce the highest quality margarine, plant-based cheese, and other food products while maintaining our commitment to sustainability and efficiency.In this dynamic role, you won't just oversee projects—you'll own them. From ideation to implementation, your expertise will be key in optimizing everything from process automation to robotics, packaging, and beyond. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, tapping into your creativity and strategic thinking to develop a global roadmap for factory automation. You will:
Lead Factory Automation Projects
- Take the reins on planning, development, programming, testing, and commissioning of factory automation projects that are delivered On Time, In Full (OTIF).
- Ensure every project aligns with our leading edge process technology standards.
Drive Digital Transformation
- Spearhead the digitalization of our production systems, crafting a visionary global roadmap for factory digitalization across the Flora Food Group network.
Manage Diverse Automation Projects
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of automation projects, covering:
- Process Automation + ISA 88 Batching systems
- Machine Automation
- Packaging and Conveying Automation
- Motion Control and Robotics Automation
Build and Deploy OT Support Systems
- Develop and roll out advanced OT support systems, including:
- OT Servers and Virtualization
- Factory Remote Access Management Systems
- Data Analytics and Reporting Systems for factory processes
- Industrial Internet of Things (IIo T) applications for various production systems
Innovate with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
- Design, test, and implement MES systems tailored to our unique production needs, encompassing:
- OEE Systems
- Warehouse Management Systems
- Quality Management Systems
- ERP Integration
Strengthen OT Networks & Cybersecurity
- Develop robust OT network systems for our factories, working hand-in-hand with IT to implement top-tier cybersecurity measures across all locations.
Standardize and Elevate Specifications
- Lead the global standardization of Operational Technology, Automation, Electrical & Instrumentation, Process Control, and Power across all Flora Food Group factories.
Enhance Factory & Building Safety Systems
- Design and implement critical safety systems, including:
- Building Automation Systems
- Fire Safety Systems
- Security Camera and Access Control Systems
- Power and Energy Monitoring Systems
Advise and/or support Electrical and Instrumentation for Cap Ex Projects
- Command the full scope of electrical and instrumentation work on capital expenditure projects, covering:
- High and Low Voltage power distribution system design and review
- Procurement specifications and instrumentation selection
- Electrical controls system development and review
- Comprehensive systems engineering, including machine/process controls, panel design, and installation
- Coordination with OEMs, suppliers, vendors, and procurement teams
So, what does it take to be successful in this role?
You are a highly experienced professional with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, bringing over 10 years of expertise in leading global automation engineering projects, particularly within the food and beverage industry. You possess deep subject matter expertise in Siemens and Allen Bradley control systems, SCADA environments, and have hands-on experience with other leading automation OEMs like Schneider, Danfoss, and GE. Your proficiency extends to factory automation systems, digital OT, MES, and cybersecurity, coupled with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget across diverse regions. While familiarity with food process technology is an advantage, your exceptional leadership and communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with global teams. You thrive in fast-paced, ever-changing work environments, demonstrating a fearless approach to asking questions and solving problems creatively. Additionally, you are adaptable and willing to travel for project deployments and monitoring.
