Iron Ore is a strategic raw material for steelmaking and a significant element of operational performance. As the steel market leader, Arcelor Mittal is the largest buyer and a key actor on the Iron Ore market. The Iron Ore team is in charge of developing and implementing the global purchasing strategy, in line with Segments strategy. This multicultural team manages delivery of iron ore coming from international mining companies from all producing areas (Brazil, Australia, Canada, Africa …) to our plants located all over the world.
This role is aimed to manage and develop a portfolio of seaborne iron ore suppliers at optimum TCO (Total cost of Ownership) for the Group and ensure quality of supply to the mills (end-users).
The position is located in Luxembourg, and candidates must be able to relocate full time in Luxembourg.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to elaboration and implementation long term and short term strategy, mixing use of captive sources and external purchases.
Ensure safety of supply, of the right products and in the right time, through contractual commitments (volumes and flexibility) and proper contract management with suppliers.
Management of dedicated Seaborne suppliers portfolio (negotiation, contracting, deployment, assessment) in accordance with AMS business and validation rules, legal constrains and Sox compliances rules.
Manage close coordination, formalized communication and collaborative relationships with stakeholders (Users’ plants, Business divisions, Overseas’ Segments …).
Leverage group buying power and promote transversal best practices to generate savings.
Organize and deliver on quarterly base an objective measurement of Buying Performances (TPP / PMG) according to AMS defined standards.
Focus on TCO optimization for iron ores on seaborne perimeter, according to final users objectives and involving all possible stakeholders (internal and external -> CTO, R&D, Suppliers, …).
Continuously implement and contribute to development of purchasing processes towards best in class standards.
Contribute for managed perimeter to BAR preparation (Business Area Review meetings) and other management presentations including Business Plan, KMP, etc.
Required Skills and Competences
Master's degree in Engineering, Economics or other related field
Continuous experience within the same are of expertice min 8 years
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Good communication skills
Keen commercial sense
Ability to understand products, processes and their applications
Able to feed strategic reflections related to managed perimeter
Strong teamwork attitude: ability to openly exchange information, share objectives and results, accept compromises between team members
Fluency in English is mandatory, any additional language (French, German, Spanish, Portuguese) is an advantage
