To assume a leadership role within the nursing department in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring patient care outcomes are in accordance with Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) vision and mission. Actively participates in Nursing Quality Improvement initiatives and implementation of Accreditation Standards as well as Performance Improvement and Research projects.
Responsibilities
Abide by standards of care and practice and using own initiative, act independently within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills, maintaining nursing professional code of ethics.
Day to day supervision/management and coordination of staff as appropriate. Provide and participate in clinical and peer supervision.
Deputise for Nurse Manager in their absence or when requested.
Contributes to implementation and reporting of nursing practices in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) and DDI policies and procedures, as well as National and International Standards of Care.
Adhere to, implement and contribute to development of policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the clinical area to ensure that working practice is underpinned by current best clinical practice evidence.
Active in the delivery of initiatives to maintain Nursing Quality Improvement targets and sets performance improvement plans to achieve desired outcomes in line with the institutional strategic goals in coordination with the Nursing Manager.
Contribute to Nursing personal and professional development activities, competencies, educational and research programs, staff appraisal and other functions as assigned by the Nursing Manager.
Ensure availability & cost-effective utilization of supplies & safe operation of equipment.
Actively contributes to the planning and implementation of Nursing Development workplan and through participation in relevant working groups.
Act as a role model through the provision of professional nursing leadership and demonstration of competent and effective practice within the nursing and research team.
Work as part of a team to provide and promote a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Active in ensuring DDI Accreditation standards are met.
Ensure adverse events are reported in a timely and effective manner at local level and escalate as appropriate in compliance with related legislation and guidelines.
Perform other assignments when needed within the scope of practice based on institution /department demand.

Required Skills and Expertise:
Requirements:
8 years relevant nursing with broad range of clinical nursing experience.
2 years Senior Nurse level experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or equivalent.
Experience of Quality Improvement, Clinical Audit and Service evaluation.
Experience of data analysis, report writing and presentation of findings.
