The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Senior Lead Offshore Engineer to join our Engineering & Asset Management function.
As Senior Lead Offshore Engineer, you will ensure that offshore transmission projects are developed in accordance with Eir Grid statutory obligations, standards and policies. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are carried out in a manner which meets Eir Grid requirements.
We will look to you to lead the engagement with internal and external customers and stakeholder technical consultants and provide technical direction and assistance across the organisation on own projects.
In your role you will also ensure the completion of Stage Gate Reviews on all customer projects to ensure that the requirements of Eir Grid functional specifications are met. You will ensure that technical queries raised during project are dealt with in accordance with TSO standards.
You will have HV transmission design expertise and will be able to assess HV transmission designs for conformity to standards and requirements. This role also requires that technical queries raised during projects are dealt with in accordance with TSO standards and policies and are closed out efficiently with the customer. An important aspect of this role is a requirement to exercise expert technical judgement and the ability to solve problems to ensure that the appropriate technical standards are being adhered to on specific projects.
The Team
The Infrastructure office within Eir Grid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The Infrastructure Office is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities.
The Engineering & Asset Management Function is responsible for undertaking four key roles; asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering.
The offshore engineering team is responsible for undertaking project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with Eir Grid functional specification and standards. A core part of this role will involve the issuing of functional and technical specifications to both Phase 1 Offshore developers and liaising with these developers to resolve technical queries to ensure connections to the transmission system are in accordance with specifications
About you
Successful candidates will have:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree typically with a minimum 6 years’ experience in the delivery of HV transmission assets offshore or similar industry such as Oil and Gas.
- Offshore platform design expertise with experience with experience assessing conformity to standards.
- Submarine cable design and/or installation expertise with experience assessing cable designs for conformity to standards.
- Experience working on EPC contracts
- Ensuring parties responsible fore delivery of transmission infrastructure are provided with all requisite functional and technical standards.
- Experience completing inspection and monitoring of construction progress for compliance to ensure transmission assets can be commissioned in accordance with standards.
- Experience preparing and issuing transmission design drawings, such as single line diagrams, substation layout drawings, protection schematics and interlocking drawings, etc.
- Strong understanding of the requirements of stakeholders and industry for the transmission system and associated developments
