Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our users and content creators to enjoy and express themselves.
As a Product Policy Manager for SSA, you will become an expert on the policy, media, and technology landscape of SSA and what makes it unique.
You will be part of a global and regional team, ensuring that our Policies fit the legal and cultural environments of SSA.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance.
This may occur in the form of images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.
What will I be doing?
You will organize and articulate ambiguous and complex ideas or issues into clear documentation and analysis
You will craft and implement content policies for SSA, with regional insights which are in line with global Trust and Safety policies. This includes maintaining product policies that are compliant with the region's regulations, privacy laws, and cultural considerations.
You'll act as an escalation point of contact for SSA, align with all stakeholders, and respond to emergency content safety-related cases.
You will monitor and ensure adherence to regional and global policies, and work with XFN teams to implement necessary changes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in policy development, policy enforcement, or advocacy, specifically in technology/social media/content.
You have a deep interest in content management and online community development.
You have fluency in English, Swahili/Amharic and French. This is critical as you would be primarily responsible for the SSA market.
An advanced degree in policy, international affairs or other related fields.
Deep understanding of SSA's regulatory environment and cultural norms.
Your ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
Your resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous work experience in Trust & Safety.
