Ensuring food quality: Monitoring ingredient quality and freshness
Maintaining kitchen equipment: Setting up workstations and operating kitchen appliances
Keeping the kitchen clean: Washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and taking out the trash
Ensuring proper storage: Storing food and other items properly
Presenting food: Portioning and garnishing dishes to ensure appealing presentation
Managing stock: Monitoring stock levels and placing orders
Communicating with front-of-house staff: Liaising with front-of-house staff to ensure hot food is served
Accommodating guests: Meeting customer expectations and accommodating guests with allergies
Staff cooks should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a strong understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment, and be familiar with sanitation regulations.
