Reporting to: Shift -in-charge,Ward-in-charge,Nursing Supervisor
Job Summary: Staff nurse is responsible for direct nursing care of the assigned patients. She co-ordinates between the patient and the doctors and other departments to provide total care. She/He needs to be aware of the treatment outlined by the physician.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
Bedside handover takeover
Nutritional needs as prescribed
Knowledge about the assigned patient
Report any undue delay or issues
Evaluate patient condition
Follow protocol for: admission, discharge,death,tranfer out/ transfer in
Constant observation
Follow Blood Transfusion policy as required
Attend patient needs immediately
Informed consent to be taken for all special procedures and investigations
Immediate reporting of abnormlities if any
Confidentiality of patient records and condition
Proper documentation
Proper management of emergencies
Counseling patients and family members Health education
Follow Consultant Doctors rounds
Inter departmental co- ordination
Implement Doctors orders
Ensure morning care and personal hygiene especially by night nurse
Inform cross referrals Prepare necessary charts for the next days by the night nurse
Prepare and assist in various bedside procedures
Ensure receipt of all medicines indented
Indent prescribed medicines and inform non-availabilitiy
Accompany patient if necessary
Narcotic/expensive drugs as per protocol
Emergency management
Collect investigation reports and inform
Pre and Post op care
2. Staff Responsibilites
Handover and takeover the ward equipment and medicines in each shift
Sterilize all the instruments and keep the trays ready
Maintain emergency tray
Maintaing inventory register
Replace stock Medcinies
Stock status to be informed
Prevent wastage and minimize misuse of supplies
Take proper care of all the equipments after its use
Proper storage of equipment to prevent damage
Assist in making ward indent
3. Other Responsibilities
Ensure case sheets are properly stacked in racks.
Take special care to MLC case sheets.
Strict bio-medical waste segregation.
Follow infection control policy.
Carry out barrier nursing techniques when ever necessary.
Participate in all training and self development programs.
Safety precautions for patients and self.
Skill Required : Good Communication,Knowledge of clinical procedures and holistic approach towards patients.
Working Condition: Closed environment within the hospital wards including sensitive areas like MICU,ICU,CCU,RECOVERY,OT,CATH LAB Standing and walking for long periods of time, frequent interruptions, handling ,multiple tasks simultaneously.
JOB SPECIFICATION :
Educational Qualification: GNM/B.sc Nursing recognized by PNRC/INC
FRESHERS ARE MORE THAN WELCOME.
