Job Summary The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions of the organization, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, managing funds efficiently, and providing strategic financial guidance. The role requires a Chartered Accountant (CA) with experience in the nonprofit or healthcare sector, particularly with managing donor funds, grants, and endowments. Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing.
Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts in coordination with department heads.
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to the management team on financial performance.
Compliance and Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including tax filings, audits, and financial reporting.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
Fund Management and Donor Compliance
Manage and oversee all aspects of donor funds, grants, and endowments, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and restrictions.
Prepare financial reports for donors, stakeholders, and management to demonstrate proper fund utilization.
Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and compliance with donor agreements.
Strategic Financial Planning
Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies to support organizational objectives.
Lead initiatives to optimize financial performance, including cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and risk management strategies.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to achieve departmental goals.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the finance team.
Ensure team members receive timely and appropriate training and development opportunities.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
Work closely with program managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of financial management with organizational goals.
Serve as a liaison to the board of directors and finance committee, providing regular updates on financial performance and key issues.
Collaborate with external partners, including banks, auditors, and regulatory agencies, to maintain effective financial management and compliance.
Qualifications
Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is required.
Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the nonprofit or healthcare sector.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance in the nonprofit sector. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
