Job Summary:
The Career Counselor will play a pivotal role in assisting students with their academic planning and career exploration. This includes providing personalized guidance, helping with course/stream selection, and supporting students in their university application process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students regarding academic and career goals.
- Assist students in selecting appropriate stream, courses and educational programs based on their interests and aspirations.
- Guide students through the university application process, including interview preparation, and scholarship applications.
- Conduct workshops and seminars on various topics related to academic and career planning.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in educational trends, university admission requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Develop and update informational materials and resources for students.
- Address any concerns or challenges that students may face in their academic journey.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in academic, career counseling or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of educational systems, institutions, course offerings, and requirements, admissions processes, and career planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Empathy and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in working with diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with international education systems and requirements.
- Proficiency in using counseling software and tools.
