Process /Chemical Design Engineer

Process Design Engineer - Oil & Gas
Job Description
A Process Design Engineer with 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry is responsible for developing, designing, and optimizing processes for various oil and gas projects. They work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure that projects meet technical, safety, and economic requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Process Design: Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and other process documentation.
Equipment Selection: Select appropriate equipment, such as pumps, compressors, vessels, and heat exchangers, based on process requirements and design criteria.
Process Simulation: Use process simulation software to model and analyze process performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize operations.
Mass and Energy Balances: Perform mass and energy balances to ensure that the process is operating efficiently and safely.
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that the process design complies with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Cost Estimation: Prepare cost estimates for process equipment and operations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot process problems.
Project Coordination: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
Strong understanding of process engineering principles and calculations
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS)
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Qualifications

Experience with specific oil and gas processes (e.g., upstream production, refining, petrochemical)
Certification in process safety management (PSM)
Experience with project management tools and methodologies
