Job Description
Job Summary
This position plays an integral part in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for the buying desk. Responsible for implementing spot buys, sourcing events, and projects related activities for the multiple categories.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic and tactical sourcing activities
Run contract lifecycle process (including uploading contracts, developing standard templates, and monitoring/tracking expiry)
Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with efficient terms for assigned spend categories
Research potential vendors, develop and implement RFP for spend between $100-$2.5 M
Partner with customers to ensure clear requirement's documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate
Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking to advise sourcing decisions
Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing delivering and record annual P&L savings
Support projects assigned for various sourcing activities
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve efficiency
Functional & technical skills
Sourcing authority – strong experience with sourcing process, supplier management, contract negotiations and procure to pay operations
Experience with ERP systems, spend analytics, e Sourcing, and contract management systems required
Excellent category-specific sourcing and category management skills in key portfolios of spend in Direct (e.g., Biochemical, Packaging, or Chemicals)
Expert understanding of multi-step strategic sourcing processes and strategies
Experience negotiating agreements/contracts with suppliers.
Understanding of procurement processes, tools, and standard methodologies
Leadership & Behavioral
Agility and flexibility to develop expertise across sourcing categories in areas complementary to the existing team
Desire to grow and develop as a sourcing specialist and develop category expertise across Direct portfolios (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Packaging or Chemicals)
Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment – a self-starter who looks for ways to improve existing processes
Strong customer service orientation, keen to deliver on internal customer needs
Independent worker with the ability to track and handle own deadlines
Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data to inform sourcing decisions.
Analytical problem solver who makes decisions using data and insights – will need to prepare an analysis to develop sourcing strategy/scenarios / savings desire to mentor and coach junior team members
Experience & Qualification
5+ years of procurement experience within Direct categories (e.g., Biochemical, Packaging or Chemicals)
Shown working experience as a buyer, senior buyer, purchasing specialist agent, or officer.
Must have a degree in supply chain management, operations, or business administration
High level of English language proficiency (verbal and written)
