The Plant Maintenance Mechanic Technician II is responsible for preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of industrial equipment and systems within a medical metalworking plant. This key role focuses on ensuring that machinery and systems critical to production operate efficiently and continuously, in line with quality standards and medical industry regulations.
The technician will work closely with the production, engineering, and quality teams to diagnose technical issues, implement solutions, and optimize equipment performance. Additionally, they must be familiar with industrial safety protocols and medical industry regulations to ensure product quality and compliance.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.
- Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
- Perform periodic inspections, adjustments, and repairs on production equipment such as lathes, milling machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, CNC machines, and other specialized equipment in medical metalworking.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic failures, proposing and executing immediate repairs or corrective maintenance plans.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs, ensuring that critical equipment operates optimally.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems in real-time to minimize production downtime.
- Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment according to manufacturer specifications or plant requirements.
- Ensure installations and modifications comply with safety standards and production specifications in the medical environment.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance performed, in accordance with plant procedures and applicable regulations.
- Uses hand and power tools.
- Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment.
- Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Requires full job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education.
- Technician Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanics, Electromechanics, or a related field.
- At least 3+ years of experience in maintaining industrial machinery, preferably in the metalworking or medical industry.
- Experience working with CNC equipment, precision machines, and automated systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanics, electricity, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
- Familiarity with regulations and standards applicable to the medical sector (ISO 13485, GMP).
