Job Description:
Who We Are
We are looking for a Data Engineer who loves to work with data, develop data pipelines, make quality data available at scale and has experience sourcing and preparing data.
Summary:
You will be joining a team responsible for the sourcing and preparation of data for data science and AI/ML processes. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining web scraping solutions to gather data for our data products. This individual will also need to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of the data collected. Engineers in this role also commonly work with our ETL/ELT pipelines, write tests to ensure data quality and validity, and create scripts to change data in multiple environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with data scientists and ML engineers to gather requirements and help architect solutions.
- Develop web scraping scripts and tools to extract data from target websites
- Maintain existing scripts and troubleshoot when necessary
- Use a database querying language to access data
- Advise and mentor junior members
- Document data and data pipelines
Qualifications:
- Must have proficiency with a relational database
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, XPath, and other protocols
- Exposure to data orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Must have proficiency with an ELT/ETL tool
- Must have experience with a database querying language
- 3+ years experience with Python
- Prior experience with cloud architecture for data engineering (Azure, GCP, or AWS)
Education/Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in Data Engineering or a related role such as Data Analyst or Data Operations Engineer
- Some exposure to ML models and interfacing with those models
- Prior exposure to data lakes and warehouse architecture
