Truck & Transport Technician

Available Position: Truck & Transport Technician
Licensed and Apprentice Truck and Transport technicians and Red Seal Automotive technicians are invited to apply.
Mac Kay’s Truck & Trailer Center is growing, and we are currently seeking a Truck & Transport Technician to join our team in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Mac Kay’s is a well-established family-owned business with over 40 years experience operating full-line Truck, Trailer & Compact Equipment dealerships, with locations in Truro & Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, as well as Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Moncton, New Brunswick.
We currently have an opening on our day shift for a permanent full-time technician. This is not a flat rate shop, technicians and apprentices are paid hourly. We offer a fast paced, professional safe environment. Mac Kay’s provides employees with the most up to date manufacturers’ training and holds safety to highest standards.
Our goal is to build a team of individuals who will share our passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to customer service. The ideal candidates are individuals who have a positive attitude, are highly motivated and self directed and appreciate the high expectations of our customers and will strive to meet and exceed those standards daily.
Mac Kay's offers a competitive salary of $43-$82K (depending on experience), a comprehensive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, and extended health benefits, company pension (matched), three weeks vacation to start, boot and tool allowance.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and replacing parts and components on small, medium, and heavy-duty trucks as well as routine and preventative maintenance. Providing excellent customer service through efficient time management and collaboration with team members on the status of repairs on assigned jobs. Follow safe work practices and maintain a clean work area.

Experience:
- Canadian Red Seal Truck & Transport certified or a Truck & Transport Apprentice with experience in the Truck & Transport trade. Heavy-Duty Equipment or Automotive Red Seal certified are considered an asset.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with a strong attention to detail and the capability to adhere to precise instructions.
- Relevant safety training for the trade, combined with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Additional certifications and competencies, such as welding, cutting, and fabrication, are advantageous.
- Training in Cummins engine systems and certification as a Mack/Volvo Master Technician are highly valued.
- A Class One driver’s license is considered an asset.
