Smart ICE is looking to hire an HR Coordinator. The HR Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting organizational success through strategic HR initiatives. Responsible for talent acquisition, employee development, health and benefits programs and fostering a positive workplace culture, the HR Coordinator ensures that Smart ICE attracts, retains, and develops top talent aligned with our mission and values.

What you will be doing
Assist in recruitment processes, including job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
Support HR administration, including maintaining employee records, updating HR databases, and generating HR reports as needed.
Assist in employee relations activities, including coordinating employee events, handling employee inquiries, and supporting conflict resolution processes.
Support employee development processes, including tracking probationary periods, conducting annual reviews, and maintaining documentation.
Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements.
Coordinate training and development initiatives, including scheduling training sessions, tracking employee training completion, and evaluating training effectiveness.
Support compensation and benefits administration, including assisting with benefits enrollment, answering employee questions, and processing changes.
Assist with HR projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HR policies and procedures in all HR-related activities.
Liaise with payroll provider.
What you will bring
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience as an HR Coordinator or similar role.
Knowledge of HR functions and best practices, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Understanding of labor laws and regulations applicable to HR practices in Canada is preferred.
Experience working in remote or northern communities and proficiency in Indigenous languages (such as Inuktitut) is an asset.
Ability to be flexible as staff are in different time zones.
