Job Title: Restorative Practices Facilitator (2 vacancies)

Job Summary
The Restorative Practices Facilitator (RPF) works collaboratively with the Principals by supporting and assisting with student conduct and behaviour management using culturally appropriate restorative practices. RPF will work as part of a team to support a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
Responsibilities
Facilitate culturally appropriate behavioural intervention programs while ensuring Mi’kmaq cultural values and traditions are respected.
Assist with discipline of students in accordance with the school discipline policy.
Manage student discipline referrals and investigate discipline situations.
Assist in supervising student suspensions.
Administer appropriate consequences and interventions, and manage student suspensions and restorative plans.
Serve as a liaison between parents, staff, and students when managing student discipline issues and intervention plans.
Promote positive relations with students, staff, parents and community.
Create and/or assist with preventative curricular activities within the school.
Identify and assist with intervention strategies for students who exhibit behavioural issues.
Advocate for all students.
Promote attendance and encourage regular attendance and participation from students.
Liaise with school personnel, and community agencies to ensure student success.
Promote Mi’kmaq language, culture, and ceremonies with the school's programming and environment.
Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, educational professionals, and student support services.
Collaborate with school security and maintenance staff to ensure the safety of students and staff on a daily basis.
Participate in various committees, ensuring that the school's policies and best practices are followed.
Share appropriate information about students to school personnel, parents and community agencies.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with experience in facilitating circles
Current registration with NS College of Social Workers or eligible to be registered
2 years of experience working in a school or community setting, preferably with Mi’kmaq children, youth and families.
Proficiency in Mi’kmaq and English required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Google Workspace applications. (docs, drive, sheets, classroom)
Valid driver's license and access to transportation, as required.
Preference will be given to Indigenous people in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
