Research Agronomist
A Horizon Ag Research Ltd. is an agricultural contract research company that works in the Saskatoon area. A Horizon Ag Research focuses on small plot research for development of new pesticides, seed varieties and agronomic research. Research is conducted in the Colonsay, Sk., area which is 50km east of Saskatoon.

Qualifications:
- M.Sc. in Agriculture or B.Sc. with 1 – 3 years of experience (can include internships)
- Must be registered or eligible to become registered with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists as defined by The Agrologists Act
- Agriculture knowledge with focus in crops and agronomy including seed, pest identification, crop protection and crop nutrient/soil fertility products
- Valid class 5 license (preference would be given to those with heavy trailer "G" endorsement or Class 1 license)
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Experience with farm machinery, trucks and trailers is essential
- Ability to do manual labor, including lifting between 25 and 50 lb.
- Eligible to work in Sk.
- Operate small plot machinery such as tractors, combines, sprayers, trucks and trailers. Preference to applicants with recent and strong machinery skills
- Planning and conducting small plot field trials including seeding, plot spraying, qualitative evaluations, data collection and accurate record keeping.
- Field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, fertility and crop protection decision making, and pesticide applications.
- Following standard operating procedures for a safe work environment, including maintaining personal safety equipment
- Drone operation and drone image data processing
- Regular equipment maintenance
- Effectively work with, train and supervise summer interns
