Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mine Manager is responsible for the overall management of the mine operations department. The Mine Manager is responsible for leading and guiding the mine operations team in a safe and environmentally friendly manner to achieve optimal production, cost and quality goals.

The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.0 million ounces of silver in 2024 as the mine ramps up production.

Here’s what you can expect in this role:
- Responsible for managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team and establishing priorities to maintain a safe and cost effective mine.
- Directs a safety program which establishes the expectation of working injury-free; setting the example for others to follow and provides the skills and ability to do so through adequate training.
- Drive operational excellence in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Prepares and oversees Mine Operations budgets, reviewing and authorizing expenditures, and ensuring that budgets are maintained within established limits.
- Develop and apply KPIs and metrics to track progress of reliability programs.
- Coordinates activities with outside contractors, suppliers, and vendors to assure that the operation is cost effectively purchasing goods and services.
- Maintains courteous, professional relationships with company employees, suppliers, customers, and government agencies.
- Ensures that appropriate controls are utilized to make certain that production and development objectives are met; implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve performance.
- Monitors and reports performance against budgeted targets in terms of production goals and costs and assuring that budget goals for production and development are safely met.
- Builds, develops and manages a team capable of carrying out needed strategies, focusing on quality and continuous improvement, and enhancing employee relations.
- Collaborates closely with other members of the senior management team in achieving overall Keno Hill operation goals and objectives and conferring with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards.
- Collaborates with the maintenance group to ensure maintenance and repair of equipment, balancing optimization of production with necessary preventative maintenance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering, geological engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in the mining industry with proven experience leading safe operations in an underground environment.
- 5+ years of overall supervision experience, relevant experience in an underground operation, preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mining regulations, safety practices and procedures.
- Experience in budgeting, cost control and financial reporting for mining operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software, specifically MS Office.

Work Environment and Job Schedule
This position will require you to work a rotating shift of 14 days onsite and 14 days off and you will be provided camp housing and meals. As a managerial role, it will be expected that you will be available to support your team offsite as needed. Employees will be frequently exposed to; outside weather conditions, snow conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is occasionally loud.
