The IT Support Technician candidate registry process supports a streamlined and consistent whole of government approach to recruitment and selection for Yukon Government’s IT Support Technician positions. Departments across Yukon Government will use this candidate registry to fill vacant Permanent, Term, Auxiliary-On Call, and Casual positions as needed. Only successful pre-certified candidates have the opportunity to apply on positions when posted. The IT Support Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting information systems, networks, and infrastructure to meet the separate and distinct needs of the Departments. This position provides front-line client-focused entry-level IT support and confidently interacts with internal support teams and clients, ensuring appropriate expectations are set and met within our environment. To succeed in this role, you will be confident in your ability to effectively prioritize competing demands and maintain a broad, strategic perspective of how your work contributes to the success of your clients.

How to become pre-certified:
Application – Candidates must submit their resume to this posting for consideration, please review the essential qualifications below prior to applying as well as this link on how to prepare your resume.
Written test – Screened in candidates participate in a written assessment.
Oral interview – Candidates who pass the written assessment are asked to complete an interview in person or virtually.
After pre-certification: Candidates who are successful as per the process above, are then added to the candidate registry. These candidates will receive notifications to their email address when job postings become available. At that time, pre-certified candidates need to demonstrate their experience for the posted position that interests them by submitting their application. Candidates who screen in on a department specific position may need to undergo another assessment and/or fit interview specific to that department, to be considered for the role.
Candidates remain active on the registry for 12 months from the month of their pre-certification.
Essential Qualifications: Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. A month year to month year format must be used for all work experience (paid or voluntary) to be considered. Selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information in your resume.
Post-secondary coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field;
Experience providing technical support in a team environment;
Experience installing and maintaining computer software, hardware, and related computing environments;
Experience supporting a Microsoft environment.
Candidates who demonstrate education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications above may be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and suitability: Candidates will be assessed based on the IT Support Technician job profile.
Conditions of employment/Job Requirements:
Depending on the position, job requirements or conditions of employment may include, but are not limited to: Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence or equivalent, security clearance, occasional travel by both ground and air, ability to lift up to 35 kgs, etc.
