As a Forest Officer, reporting to the Wildfire Technologist, you will play a key role in the Wildfire Management program. Your knowledge of fire behavior, fuel types, firefighting techniques, and forest ecology will be essential in supporting wildfire prevention, operations, and forest management. You will be involved in wildfire detection, enforcement, education, engineering, pre-suppression, and suppression activities, as well as leading seasonal firefighting crews, ensuring safe and effective wildfire suppression.
You will also contribute to wildfire detection and operations by managing lookout staff, enforcing fire permits according to legislation, and supporting Fire Smart initiatives while participating in Forest Operations Monitoring (FOMP) and Forest Health programs, conducting inspections as well as assisting with non-compliance investigations.
