We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join and work alongside the dedicated and community-focused team of professionals in its Economic Development and Strategy Department as the Economic Development Officer (EDO).
Reporting to the Manager, Economic Development &Communications, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the administration, implementation and operation of the City's economic development programs and grants. Through regular direction from the Manager, the incumbent assists with the implementation of policies and programs to ensure the operational objectives of the City are met. The EDO is responsible for coordinating implementation of the City's Economic Development Strategy and assisting with other plans like the Joint Economic Development Strategy, Tourism Strategy, and Agriculture Strategy. The EDO will have a lead role in activities and initiatives that attract investment and business opportunities in the City and will actively support business retention and expansion activities.
This position requires a university degree in commerce, business administration, communications, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years' experience in business development, communications, or a related field is required.
The incumbent should demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to establish effective channels of communication and a collaborative working relationship. The incumbent should maintain good judgement and discretion and possess the ability to problem solve and mediate various situations. Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel, Powerpoint and Word is required.
The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive annual salary range of $85,780.84 - $103,445.91 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
