As a Parks Development Coordinator, you will be a contributing member of Community Planning's Urban Design and Open Space Team and involved with the Development Applications review Team (DART). Primary duties include:
  • Prepare a variety of parks and recreation policy reports and planning studies including open space systems plans, park master plans and regional needs assessments.
  • Review, evaluate and provide recommendations on land use, subdivision and development permit applications.
  • Interface and negotiate with consultants, developers, the community and government officials on all aspects of the planning and development of open space and leisure facilities.
  • Represent Urban Design and Open Space at Council hearings, Calgary Planning Commission, Subdivision and Development Appeal Board and other approving authorities.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Planning or a related field combined with at least 5 years of related experience.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are eligible for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and have previous experience working with Development Applications Review Team (DART).
  • Project management experience is considered an asset.
  • You have a high degree of political sensitivity and applied knowledge in the areas of planning policy, by-law preparation and application, parks master planning and development response.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills along with ability to work effectively with others.

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 18 months)
Location: 800 Macleod Trail SE

Compensation: Pay Grade 13 $47.77 - 63.92 per hour (2024 Rates)
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
