Overview of Position: The Pre-Construction Coordinator is responsible for assisting with setting the foundation and production schedule of a project through planning, coordinating, estimating, and administrative duties. As the Pre-Construction Coordinator, you will be coordinating closely with the Design Manager and Project Management Office (PMO) team to assist with the planning and design of all projects, estimating costs and researching cost-saving options, aiding with initial project scope, and identifying any potential issues. This position would play a role in producing estimates and proposals for the Sales team. The successful candidate must have the ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications to ensure achievable installation of the design documents. The candidate will also be responsible for handling internal and external requests related to pre-construction and connecting the communications between the customer and the project execution to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities:
Create and sustain effective customer relationships and internal efficiencies through timely and professional responses to questions, concerns, submission of deliverables, and other inquiries.
Support business development by aiding in the proposal process and coordination of designs.
Assist with producing estimates and proposals for the Sales team to present to clients.
Coordinate work across multiple departments and subcontractors pertaining to the pre-construction projects.
Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates, and specifications.
Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors, and location impacts.
Coordinate pricing and estimates related to the project.
Organize all project documentation, drawings, specifications, reports etc.
Participate in design coordination and preconstruction meetings with relevant parties.
Work simultaneously on multiple projects at various stages in the pre-construction process.
Complete and review basic estimates and quantity takeoffs to understand project costs.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Review all final estimate packages and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
Track issues that arise out of each design review.
Coordinate issues between discipline and assist in escalating errors or omissions for resolution.
Assists with the comprehensive review of all project reports, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc.
Preferred Qualifications (What you will contribute to the Cobra team / Experience or Certification):
Education: Civil Engineering Technologist (CET), or Construction Management Degree (CMD) would be considered an asset.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Coordinator or Junior Estimator in the construction field, preferably on Commercial and Industrial general contracting projects.
Knowledge of construction costs, estimating, scheduling, purchasing, and planning.
Knowledge of various construction methods and installation procedures.
Ability to effectively manage timelines and budgets to ensure delivery of project objectives.
Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and drawings.
Strong planning and execution skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment.
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, MS Project)
