Great opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to take on a leadership role at large Canadian head office in Winnipeg. Reporting to the the CFO, the Controller will manage the internal financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis and internal controls for a number of corporate subsidiaries and divisions.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each department
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Provide strategic analysis to drive improved decision making
  • Lead and and mentor a strong finance group of 10-12 staff
  • Manage the accounting operations including review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure accounting activities are in line with regulatory and company procedures
  • Prepare and present financial information for quarterly and annual reports
  • Coordinating the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements
  • Work with sales team on product pricing, costing and margins

What the successful candidate will bring:
  • A degree in business/finance with CPA designation
  • 5+ years of finance experience at Controller level
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team
  • Strong technical skills in financial reporting and complex financial analysis
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Financial analysis, budgeting and strategic planning experience
  • Must be able to wear many hats and shift gears quickly as priorities change
  • Excellent computer skills including high level Excel abilities and familiarity with MS Great Plains software
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information to all levels within the organization
  • Commitment to delivering excellence and continuous process improvement
  • Project management skills and ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes
  • Experience overseeing external financial audits
