Discover more about potash at Nutrien! An exciting co-op opportunity awaits a motivated student at our Saskatoon Corporate Office beginning May 2025 for a 16-month term. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
Gain experience in both microseismic monitoring and in-mine geophysical techniques
Contribute to the Geo Services team in providing quality geophysical support to potash mining operations
Assist with various duties, including:
Support microseismic event workflow. This will be focused on event review and reports
Data analysis
Installation and management of geophysical sensors
Geophysical data acquisition: mainly Ground Penetrating Radar, but may also include Electromagnetic or Seismic Reflection/Refraction
Some travel may be required
Occasionally work in underground mines
Some longer than normal workdays may be required
What you will bring:
Must be currently enrolled and completed at least 3 years of an undergraduate Geophysics, Geology, Mine Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geological Engineering, or other earth sciences degree (or equivalent) program at an accredited post-secondary institution AND returning to full-time studies after the work term
Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training
Excellent interpersonal teamwork and communication skills
Motivation to set and achieve goals, take initiative, and nurture projects forward
Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities
Alignment with Nutrien’s purpose and values
Preference will be given to candidates with mining or heavy industrial experience and/or with data analytics experience
