What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader, Security Training and Triage in Security Command.

The Security training and triage team leader is responsible leading a team of security professionals who deliver a range of security functions including:

Development, implementation and maintenance of security training programs;
Managing the Security Incident Report (SIR) triage process to prioritise tasks and resources effectively;
Development and maintenance of governance for Security command;
Analyse security reporting and monitor the security environment to ensure contemporary security training and communications;
Ensuring timely and relevant security communications; and
Provide secretariat function for the Serious Security Incident committee.

This role requires a person with strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support team performance in a high-pressure environment.

As a team leader in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position while maintaining confidentiality, exercising sound judgement and possessing strong leadership skills to make timely decisions.

This position is assigned to the Support Working Pattern under the AFP enterprise agreement.

What will you do?

This role leads the Security Training and Triage team. It is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the team and delivering operational and organisational outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to deliver in a cooperative and collaborative environment: one that is responsive and flexible in meeting the objectives of the AFP. The team leader:

Requires strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks;
Develops plans and ensures all resources are effectively directed and achieving business area outputs;
Oversees the development and implementation of training material, designing and delivering comprehensive training programs;
Oversees the Security Incident triage process by evaluating and prioritising incoming / emerging issues, tasks or incidents based on urgency or complexity;
Supports team members by building capability, mentoring and developing team members.
Assumes accountability for resources, supporting and implementing change management and improvement strategies;
Maintains currency in training concepts and methods through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities;
Engages directly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining strong and effective relationships;
Effectively manages staff performance; and

Models the AFP’s core values and maintains the highest level of professional standards

Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen
Hold a Negative Vetting 2 Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
Relevant qualifications or experience in training or Security would be highly desirable.
A proven ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
A proven ability to lead and manage a team while delivering tasks with limited guidance.
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and achieve training outcomes in a dynamic environment
