Are you a skilled Cardiologist with a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care? We’re seeking an experienced Cardiologist with a subspecialty in Electrophysiology and Pacing to join our dynamic team.
This role will primarily support the cardiology program at Maitland Hospital and is networked with the Cardiology Unit at John Hunter Hospital, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services across both sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Expert Clinical Care: Manage and treat patients with a variety of cardiac conditions, including acute and chronic coronary disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and hypertension. Use your expertise in pacing and electrophysiology to enhance our cardiology services, providing care to inpatients and outpatients at both Maitland and John Hunter hospitals. You’ll also contribute to after-hours on-call rosters, with primary involvement in the cardiology on-call roster at Maitland Hospital, including daily ward rounds and consults during on-call weeks.
  • Collaborate Across Facilities: With a focus on clinics and consultations at Maitland Hospital you will work closely with Cardiologist across Maitland, John Hunter Hospital and the district as well as an experienced multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
    Diagnostic and Therapeutic Expertise: Conduct and interpret a range of diagnostic procedures, including exercise stress testing, transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, and electrophysiology studies, providing pacing services as required.
  • Lead and Educate: Educate and supervise medical students and junior doctors, participating in the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively participate in risk management, safety, and quality programs. Contribute to systematic improvements in clinical practices and processes.
  • Efficient Clinical Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical records, reflecting all clinical decisions and updates to the management plan.
  • Continuity of Care: Facilitate smooth discharge planning to ensure optimal continuity of care and positive health outcomes for patients.
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide expert advice in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of cardiology services, ensuring they align with current professional standards and safety guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
  • Medical Registration: Primary specialist Cardiology medical registration with AHPRA.
  • Specialist Qualification: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology, with subspecialty training in Electrophysiology and Pacing.
  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated recent comprehensive experience in cardiology, specifically in electrophysiology and pacing.
