The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Specialist Youth Family Domestic Violence Practitioner, at our Darwin location. Reporting to the Family Domestic Violence Team Leader, this is a fixed-term, full-time position concluding in June 2026 Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Award Name and level.
You will successfully
Provide support to young people in line with both the Youth Services and Domestic and Family violence streams Model of care and associated Frameworks
Establish effective professional relationships that encourages self-determination and participation is established with young people
Ensure ongoing assessments are made of the young person’s issues, safety, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit with the safety needs for the young person prioritised
Based on the needs and risk identified for the young person, early intervention and crisis response services are provided
Provide support, referral to services and community connections that will prevent the experience and use of violence or reduce the risk for escalation of violence for the young person
Provide case management support to the young person in accordance with TSA FV case management models and standards of practice that emphasise on client-centered, trauma-informed and culturally safe responses
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)
Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field
Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous roles, service and study/development
Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing and Youth services is highly desirable
Demonstrated case management experience and skills
Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
First Aid Certificate
