Social workers in Services Australia (the agency) provide professional assessments and supports, ‘short-term’ counselling and interventions to customers who have multiple and complex needs, are in crisis or who are affected by natural disasters and emergencies.
Social workers are located nationally in face-to face and telephony channels to ensure a social work service is accessible for all people in Australia, regardless of geographical location. Social workers also work with service officers and the community to enable them to better support vulnerable people through case consultation, training and professional advice.
APS6 social workers undertake their role under the support and general direction of the EL1 social worker support manager. The work is often challenging but is also rewarding and will suit candidates who are resilient and embrace innovation and change. You will be helping a diverse range of customers at key moments in their lives by listening, advocating and connecting them to payments and services.
With meaningful work undertaken across all parts of our country, you will be part of an extensive network of like-minded social workers and valued for who you are and what you can bring to our agency.
Identified Position Identified positions are roles that require people to have an understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous Australians and a proven ability to communicate sensitively with them. ‘Identified’ positions are open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply. The agency is committed to growing our Indigenous workforce across all levels.
