About the role and team
Our team at Magistrates Court of Tasmania in Launceston keeps the courts and people who attend them safe, secure and orderly. As a valued team member, you'll play a significant role in helping build safer communities by ensuring the public feel safe and protected when dealing with the judicial system. This is a varied and exciting position where you have to think on your feet, be able to problem solve and work as a team, making no two days the same.
You'll be responsible for:
Providing exceptional customer service to anyone entering the court
Conducting x-ray screening, using metal detectors and searching individuals for prohibited items
Roving security patrols within and external to the building
Conflict resolution and negotiation
Acting as a first responder to any incidents that may occur
Managing access and control rooms
Magistrates Court of Tasmania is divided into four locations across the state - Burnie, Launceston, Devonport and Hobart

Onsite paid training gaining work-related accreditation and certification.

An attractive Level 4 Pay rate of $27.88 per hour plus applicable loadings and shift penalties,
What we're looking for: people who have been in similar careers but wanting a slower pace ie, ex- Police Officers, Correctional Officers, Static Guards that want a more interesting role, people who have previously worked in the judicial system
Essential Requirements:
Clear and concise communication skills
Certificate II or III in Security Operations
Current Tasmanian Security Licence
Current First Aid Accreditation
Current CPR accreditation
Monitoring room operator experience will be regarded
Desirable to have batons and handcuffs accreditation.
