Project Officer, Communities For Children

  • Temporary full-time position until the end June 2026
  • Based in Katherine, NT

The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.


We are seeking a Project Officer, Communities for Children to join our organisation. Reporting to the Project Manager – Communities for Children Facilitating Partner (Cf C FP) and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work closely to support the project nanager, project committee, community stakeholders and partners in building community capacity. Cf C FP is a place-based initiative that facilitates early intervention and prevention activities, builds community and sector capacity, and strengthens service connections and systems to improve outcomes for children and their families.

About our role


You will be responsible for:

  • Community Partner support: support project planning, record keeping, build capacity
  • Data coordination and reporting: support strategic planning, support community partners, collate and interpret data
  • Community Liaison: build relationships, networking, support and participate in community events, organise and provide administrative support for meetings
  • Cf C FP Activities: support and promote Katherine Region Cf C FP

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Social Science, Humanities or equivalent work experience
  • Can work flexibly in a changing environment.
  • Knowledge of the child, family and community services sector along with knowledge of Katherine and the Big Rivers region.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook) and using web browsers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Full current Drivers Licence or an ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
