Primary objective
To provide administration support to the Katherine office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Context statement
The position is based in Katherine and works closely with the WAS Coordinator and prosecutors undertaking a range of
administration tasks to ensure the best outcomes for victims and witnesses during the court process. The position is required
to respond to queries for information and assistance by phone, email and in person by a range of people including clients and
professionals and at times may have to provide support to victims and witnesses.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide secretarial and clerical functions to support the Katherine WAS Coordinator and prosecutors.
2. Maintain diaries, filing systems and indices.
3. Operate PC system under a Windows environment.
4. Maintain, update and utilise the case management system to ensure information is accurate, current and documents are
produced as required.
5. Undertake other administrative tasks as directed.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience providing administrative support in a legal environment, using initiative and drive to work
collaboratively as part of a professional team.
2. Demonstrated sound working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet programs and electronic databases.
3. Sound written and oral communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
4. Efficient organisational skills with a proven ability to determine workload priorities, meet stringent deadlines, display
sound professional ethics of confidentiality and discretion and capacity to work under pressure, with minimal supervision.
5. Hold a current NT Drivers licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. An understanding of the role and function of the DPP and the criminal justice system.
2. Certificate III in Business Administration.
