An exciting opportunity has arrived to become a member of the Licensing Branch in the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, Harm Prevention and Regulation, DJAG as an AO6 Principal Licensing Officer.
As a Principal Licensing Officer, you will lead a small team of AO3 - AO5 staff to deliver licensing services for the Liquor and Gaming industries. Unique to this role is that you will also consider written submissions in respect to Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal reviews on licensing decisions, applying your critical thinking and sound decision-making skills to formulate recommendations and prepare reports, correspondence and briefing notes. While not mandatory, a legal or similar qualification or experience is highly advantageous.
Your role provides for the supervision of a team who provide responsive licensing services that balance public need and harm minimisation with industry development.
You will contribute by:
- providing support to the Licensing Managers; and
- leading a team to achieve flexible, streamlined and efficient licensing services. To successfully undertake this role, you will need to have a strong customer focus, strong ability to work under pressure and be highly motivated and focused on delivering outcomes.
Your key responsibilities:
- Assessing and providing guidance to staff in relation to complex applications andregulatory matters captured under the legislation administered by OLGR.
- Preparing complex and sensitive documents relating to high-risk applications,including requests for legal advice and detailed written submissions in respect to Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) reviews, responses to media requests, ministerial correspondence and briefing notes.
- Leading, developing and mentoring staff AO2 - AO5 level staff within a team tomeet work outcomes, including the achievement and improvement of performance indicators.
- Liaising with and providing advice to industry, community groups, legalrepresentatives and government agencies, including interstate and overseas regulators.
- Undertaking special projects relating to the regulation of the gambling and liquorindustries, including in accordance with project management methodology.
