Exciting Opportunities Await!! Join us as a Patient Billing and Funding Officer and step into vital roles that revolves around maintaining precise and current patient finance practices within our healthcare organisation. Your responsibilities will include meticulous entry of medical data, inpatient billing procedures, patient eligibility and claiming processes, ensuring not only data integrity but also compliance with relevant healthcare regulations. Other key responsibilities include:
Process claims accurately and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Accurately receipting monies and proficient management of debtors.
Review patient admissions, and billing information to determine claim eligibility.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients, including policy details, deductibles, and co-payments.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials, discrepancies, and appeals.
Accurately input patient procedural information such as MBS item numbers, procedural times and medical devices into the electronic patient management and billing system.
Ensure timely and error-free data entry to maintain the integrity of hospital claims.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of medical terminology MBS Schedule, Prescribed List of Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products and Private Health Insurance contracts.
Strictly adhere to privacy and confidentiality regulations when handling patient information
Identify and rectify errors or discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in all our records.
Follow up on outstanding invoices for medical devices and consumables used from consignment stock.
Verify information by checking medical records when necessary, ensuring its accuracy.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve eligibility issues.
Provide estimates to healthcare providers and patients as requested
Assist patients in informing and understanding their financial responsibilities.
Join Us If You Have: Our ideal candidate possesses experience in healthcare administration and/medical/hospital billing and meets the following requirements:
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Proficiency in using electronic patient management systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office
Ability to work efficiently autonomously and as a team
Able to communicate with all levels of staff
Maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated initiative and flexibility
Desirable Requirements:
Exposure to health fund contracts / funding models
Understanding of Private Health Insurance (or willingness to learn)
Understanding of Private Hospital patient accounting concepts (or willingness to learn)
Understanding of hospital coding systems (or willingness to learn)
Knowledge of Informed Financial Consent
