- Department of the Senate
The Department of the Senate is offering placements, for up to six months, to graduates who have been accepted into existing Australian Government department and agency graduate programs. The Parliament of Australia Graduate Program is designed to give graduates exposure to the parliamentary departments’ work in supporting the Parliament.
The skills and knowledge graduates obtain through the Program may assist in building the foundation for career progression and professional development. We are looking for high performing graduates from a range of disciplines who are highly motivated with sound research and analytical skills, effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
Your application should include your résumé and a one-page statement detailing:
- work experiences, noteworthy activities or projects you have contributed to during your graduate year, in relation to the core skills
- skills and knowledge gained that demonstrates your suitability for the program, and
- how skills and knowledge gained through a placement will benefit your home department or agency, when you return.
You are also asked to provide a copy of your academic transcript and the names of two work-related referees, one of which should be your current supervisor.
Before applying, discuss your interest with your supervisor or graduate coordinator. You will be asked to note that they are in agreement with you applying before submitting your application.
