Primary objective
Drive Safe NT Remote operates within a multi-disciplinary framework delivering innovative place-based road safety solutions
designed to promote responsible road use including getting and keeping a driver licence.
The Team Leader provides technical support, training, and leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Drive Safe NT
Remote Licencing Program across the Territory. The position is integral in building and sustaining stakeholder relationships
and contributes to the delivery of the Northern Territory’s broader road safety agenda.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide operational leadership for establishing and maintaining priority projects and program service delivery activity
among internal and third-party service providers.
2. Strategically develop and monitor processes and procedures to improve service delivery to meet the business,
compliance and service demands whilst exercising delegations as a Deputy Registrar, Motor Vehicle Registry.
3. Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the day-to-day activities of staff and manage and develop staff through the review
of performance evaluations, consultation, and training.
4. Identify, develop, and monitor targeted resources and projects to meet outcomes of the Drive Safe NT Remote program
and broader road safety initiatives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Skills with the ability to sustain effective collaborative relationships with stakeholder across the community to ensure
opportunities are maximised.
2. Strong organisation and problem-solving skills and demonstrated experience in project management and the ability to
manage time, delegate and set priorities and lead a small operational team.
3. Knowledge of contemporary issues and initiatives in relation to road safety and driver licensing functions, including
experience in the development and delivery of practical driving assessments particularly in a remote Indigenous context.
4. Experience in partnering effectively with Indigenous people, organisations, and communities.
5. An understanding of Work Health and Safety matters as they apply to a workplace or the ability to acquire knowledge
within a short period.
6. Proven experience and knowledge engaging and consulting with remote communities through-out the Northern
Territory, including the ability to travel by air (including charter flights) or 4WD.
7. Hold a current ‘C’ class Northern Territory Drivers Licence.
Desirable
1. Understanding of road safety issues, strategies, and programs in the Northern Territory.
2. Qualifications in a related discipline such as transport, training and development or marketing.
3. Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE 40116 or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
