Primary objective
Provide sound advice, support and coordination of business and corporate management issues and assist the Regional Director in
managing and reporting on the delivery of Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) services across the Barkly Region.
Provide leadership, direction and management to the Regional Business Services Unit which consists of project and administration staff
members.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide expert advice and support to the region on contractual, procurement, budgetary, financial management, provision of
corporate services and administrative matters.
2. Provide expert advice on and coordinate the development of business plans, budgets, financial systems, and corporate reporting
requirements for the Barkly region.
3. Provide high level leadership and management to a team of Project Administrators to ensure the effective provision of project
administration services and coordinate the provision of corporate services in the Barkly region.
4. Take part in regional decision making and contribute to the corporate management and efficient running of the Barkly region; including
coordinating reports to facilitate effective regional management.
5. Establish an excellent working relationship with clients, service providers and stakeholders and communicate effectively, both orally
and in writing, on all matters relating to the provision of project and contract administration and corporate services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound ability to provide expert advice on business management, systems and reporting issues for the region (including research,
financial management and reporting, contract management and administration, procurement, and provision of corporate services).
2. Proven ability in the leadership and management of teams and a demonstrated ability to create and foster a harmonious and effective
workplace.
3. High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at all levels including technical and professional people both
within and outside Government using sound written and verbal communication skills.
4. High level of computer literacy skills, including experience with various office applications such as Microsoft Office suite or similar;
and records, finance, and human resource information systems, including Content Manager (TRM) or similar.
5. Well-developed research and report writing skills with the ability to present information in a logical and meaningful manner.
6. A well-developed knowledge of government (or similar) works programming, project and contract administration procedures and
systems and relevant legislation and guidelines or the ability to quickly acquire.
7. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Sound knowledge of business management and business drivers in a political and economic environment.
2. Degree or Diploma in Management, Business or Business Administration, Project Management, or Finance Management.
