Mc Arthur River Mine | Northern Territory
Glencore’s Mc Arthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.
We are currently seeking a Mine Systems Technician to join our Technical Services team at MRM. In this role, you will provide support and field maintenance services related to our operational technology systems. These systems play a crucial role in enhancing the safety, efficiency, and productivity of our mining operations at MRM. They encompass various functions such as communications, fleet management, water monitoring, fatigue monitoring, and more.

Responsibilities of the role:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain radio communication networks.
Install and maintain fleet management technologies.
Conduct routine inspections of machinery and fixed plants, implementing preventive measures and generating condition reports.
Install and maintain instrumentation, including flow meters, level transducers, and pressure sensors.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize VHF infrastructure.

To excel in this position, the following qualifications and skills are required:

Proven hands-on experience with power and hand tools, with a strong ability to scope, implement, and troubleshoot a variety of operational technologies.
Trade certification or a Certificate III in communications, electrical, auto-electrical, instrumentation & control, radio, or electronics.
At least 3 years of experience in mining systems, industrial control systems, electrical, instrumentation, electronics, or communications.
Experience working with extra low voltage (ELV) DC systems in automotive, solar, and instrumentation applications.
Strong knowledge of IP networking.
