Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Surveyor you will provide survey control to facilitate execution of mine activities including topsoil stripping, overburden removal, ore mining, drilling/blasting, rehabilitation and associated projects around Mine and supporting activities.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
Maintain records necessary to provide accurate survey and design information.
Report all health and safety events and hazards, stopping the job if there is a risk to personal or team health and safety.
Manage UAV flights to acquire accurate surface and volume information whilst ensuring safe drone operation.
Maintain accurate and timely survey datasets for use by GEMCO stakeholders.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
Being innovative and have the drive to continuously improve.
Experience working in a similar role at a Mining operation.
Knowledge of Vulcan or other mine planning systems.
Knowledge of GPS technology equipment – Trimble
Experience using I-Site Scanner/I-Site Studio software
Qualifications for this position are:
Degree in Surveying or related discipline or significant equivalent experience.
Full light vehicle licence
UAV operators’ certificate (preferred)
Mine Surveyor competency (highly desirable)
