Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Permanent position on a 7:7 dayshift roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.

As the Operator (Shotfirer), you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe and effective execution of blasting activities while maintaining quality standards and compliance with operational procedures

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Control and monitor quality parameters for all blasting operations.
• Ensure compliance with safe operating practices and site procedures regarding explosives.
• Execute blasting activities in alignment with the established schedule, blast plan, and supervisor instructions.
• Provide guidance, instruction, and coaching to blast operators, fostering skill development and safety awareness.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Significant experience in blasting
• Knowledge and responsible use of explosives
• Commitment to safe working practices

Qualifications for this position are:

• Shot Firers License
• Current Dangerous Goods Security Card
