ROLE OVERVIEW
The Merchandise Assistant role is responsible for the implementation and support of merchandise strategies, to enable Outback Stores to sell a wide range of products that delivers on sales, profit, and affordability targets. The Merchandise Assistant will conduct data analysis, maintain the accuracy of product details and costs/sells in the system, and assist the Merchandise manager in day-to-day operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively manages the in-store promotions calendar and process.
Conducts category reviews and implements agreed changes.
Assists in generating and analysing weekly and monthly data scrutinising unsatisfactory sales and profit against product and location.
In conjunction with the Assistant merchandise manager, oversees the cost/sell item maintenance within Smart Retail and Group controller/HQ.
In conjunction with the Space and Range coordinator, maintains product detail and ranging accuracy within Smart Retail and Group controller/HQ.
Assist in evaluating market and store information together with historical data and forward trends to develop the department’s plans.
Maintains healthy communications with stores and internal stakeholders throughout Outback Stores.
Carry out duties in accordance with Outback Store's safety, environmental and quality policy, safety principles, corporate values, Code of Conduct, and strategies.
Complete all tasks in line with Outback Stores Policies and Procedures.
Assist in the review of policies, procedures, documentation, and forms.
Applies required document controls.
Ensure all project timelines and requirements are met.
Ad hoc administrative duties in line with experience as required.
Skills and Experiences:
Desired Qualifications
Certificate III in retail.
Current driver’s license.
Hold (or able to obtain) Working with Children Check and National Police Certificate.
Expertise
Two years plus administration or finance experience.
Proven experience in retail.
Ability to analyse data.
Sound problem solving skills
Intermediate experience in Microsoft suite.
Experience in Grocery Manager POS advantageous but not essential
Indigenous heritage highly valued.
