The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Librarian to join our dynamic team. Hinchinbrook Shire Council Library is a vibrant community resource committed to providing literacy, education, and community engagement through the regions two libraries. We provide a welcoming space for patrons of all ages to explore and discover the joy of reading and lifelong learning. In this newly created role, you would be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about fostering a love for literature and knowledge within our community.
Whether you are an entry level, or highly experienced Librarian, you will play a key role in supporting library operations and providing exceptional service to our patrons. This position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about library services, possess strong communication skills, and have a commitment to promoting a culture of learning. This role is classified at Level 4 to 5, with the exact level and salary depending on your experience, skills, and qualifications.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Vocational, tertiary, or postgraduate qualifications in a Library and Information Sciences related discipline will be highly regarded;
- Previous experience in library operations, preferably from a regional perspective in public libraries or similar customer experience environment highly desirable;
- Knowledge and ability to implement and maintain Library Management Systems, online platforms, equipment, and technology;
- Ability to lead a small team of professionals while positively influencing the knowledge and skills of the team;
- Highly developed communication, consultative, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders; and
- Ability to work effectively with the line Manager in order to continually develop and deliver innovative ideas and best practice.
Our Council
Hinchinbrook Shire Council is one of the largest employers in the region with approximately 200 employees working across multiple technical, administrative, operational and senior management roles. - 72.5-hour fortnight with roster variations depending on the position (9-day fortnight - RDOs in accordance with Council policy)

General Salary Information:
Level 4 β 5 $78,711 to $86,025 per annum plus superannuation.
Pre-employment Screening
Pre-employment screening includes Medicals, Drug and Alcohol Testing, and Criminal History Checks to ensure capability to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities. The position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
