Job Description:
The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Officer plays a vital role in fostering a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. The primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and manage health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements, company standards, and ISO certifications. By identifying risks and implementing proactive solutions, the HSE Officer will help promote a positive safety culture, ensuring that employees, contractors, and visitors are protected while contributing to a sustainable working environment.
This permanent, full-time position offers a unique opportunity to be part of Scott Groups success. As part of a dynamic and supportive team, you'll have the chance to take ownership of HSE initiatives while collaborating with different teams across the organization to support and enhance safety protocols and improve environmental sustainability efforts.
Deliverables
Compliance Monitoring:
- Ensure adherence and compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislative regulations and obligations and practically applying/imparting knowledge as required.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and assess risks.
- Manage Subcontractor compliance.
- Auditing of sites and processes.
- Writing and Implementing project safety management plans and ensure company HSE policies and procedures support HSE performance and compliance.
- Supporting project and operational HSE Compliance.
Risk Assessment:
- Perform risk assessments and develop safety protocols to mitigate identified hazards.
- Analyse incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes.
- Prepare reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.
Policy Development:
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to inform policy revisions.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain clear communication with management and staff regarding HSE issues.
- Prepare and present reports on HSE performance to management.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and drills.
- Coordinate with emergency services and local authorities as necessary.
Skills and Experiences:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Experience:
- Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards including ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software.
Working Conditions:
- Travel to different job sites.
