This platform powers iconic marketplaces like Red Balloon, Adrenaline, Experience Oz, and Everything NZ and provides a comprehensive suite of software products and services designed to help experience operators grow their businesses. We are committed to inspiring people to choose ‘stories over stuff' and are on track to deliver an experience every second by 2030.
We are The Experience Network.
Big Red Group is seeking an experienced Head of People & Performance to lead and inspire our people strategy during a transformative phase of growth. This role is perfect for a leader who thrives on driving high performance, engagement, and capability in a rapidly scaling business that blends the innovation of a tech-driven platform with the momentum of the travel and experiences industry. We are team of 120 with big ambitions, so well suited to a leader with SME and global experience. The role is based at our Sydney HQ, we work Hybrid and our leaders are onsite minimum 3 days with the team.
About the Role
As the Head of People & Performance, you'll partner closely with the leadership team to build and execute a forward-thinking people strategy that aligns with our ambitious goals. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will collaborate with leaders and people managers across the business to shape our culture, performance frameworks, and leadership capability. Your leadership will be critical in ensuring we attract, develop, and retain top talent as we evolve into a platform business, integrating the agility of SMEs with the structure of a more mature, growth-oriented tech or travel enterprise.
In this role, you will lead a team of 3, enhancing people performance, engagement, and leadership across the group as we prepare for 2025 and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
As BRG scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
  • Leadership: Develop and execute a People & Performance strategy aligned with business priorities to drive high engagement, capability, and results.
  • Transformational Change: Lead people-focused initiatives that support growth, adaptability, and the ongoing transformation of our business as we scale.
  • Talent Development: Design and implement group wide development programs that inspire growth and performance across all levels of the business.
  • Cultural Evolution: Shape a high-performance culture that balances agility with scalability, nurturing an inclusive environment where people and teams thrive.
  • Performance-Driven Initiatives: Lead group-wide programs such as performance reviews, goal setting, employee engagement, talent calibration, and remuneration cycles.
  • Partnership & Influence: Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver value through tailored people solutions, ensuring the People & Performance function supports commercial outcomes.
  • Full People Remit: Oversee employee relations, legal compliance, total rewards, leadership offsites, and culture-building initiatives. You will play an active business partner role for our operations and platform teams.
  • EVP & Employer Brand: Support the evolution of our EVP as we transition to a leading tech-driven platform, building a brand that attracts top-tier talent.
  • Team Leadership: Grow and develop the People & Performance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an inspiring leader with hands-on experience, comfortable navigating the complexity of a growing platform business. You have experience in both SME environments and more mature tech or travel businesses, making you adept at balancing agility with the need for scalable, robust frameworks.
Key Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success leading People & Culture/People & Performance teams, ideally at a Head of HR or equivalent level in both SME and larger organisations.
  • Strategic Vision & Execution: Proven ability to connect business strategy to impactful people initiatives, delivering measurable performance and commercial results.
  • Change Leadership: Expertise in managing large-scale people change, driving engagement and performance in dynamic, growth environments.
  • Industry Experience: Background in tech, Saa S, or travel businesses, with a strong understanding of the unique demands of platform-based and growth-driven/equity backed companies.
  • Cultural Stewardship: Passion for cultivating and scaling culture in fast-moving, innovative businesses while preserving what makes the organisation unique. Experiences are a core part of mission.
  • People Developer: A natural coach and mentor who fosters a high-performance, development-focused environment.
Why Join Us?

Our teams work from our offices 50% of their working week.
  • True Connection: Enjoy experiences at work that go beyond the everyday, with quarterly roadshows, employee resource groups, book club, offsites, lunches and a variety of social and sports events to foster genuine connections.
  • We Invest in You: With 30 days to work from anywhere in the world, leadership development programs, Talent Academies, mentorship opportunities, paid parental leave, and wellness support, your growth and well-being are our priority.
