About our team
What did you have for breakfast today? Whether it’s the flour in your toast or the grain in your cereal, it’s highly likely that Grain Corp helped get it onto your plate! As we find new ways to connect rural communities with food, animal feed and industrial customers around the world, we are proud to say we’re leading the way in sustainable agriculture
About the role
We are currently seeking a Grain Handler for an immediate start at our site in Moura (working at other nearby sites as required) in a permanent capacity.
Grain handlers at our country grain storage sites are critical to ensuring that we service local grain growers and customers efficiently and safely in receiving, storing, maintaining and out-loading grain. The grains we handle include wheat, barley and canola mainly, but we also take in chickpeas, sorghum and other commodities.
The core activities of a grain handler include:
Sampling grain received at the site (spearing using automatic or manual spears and then testing for protein, moisture and contaminants against specifications, entering data into our system)
Receiving sampled grain via truck at the weighbridge and entering weights into our system
Monitoring the flow of grain from truck unloading and onto hopper, auger or other equipment
Protecting and storing grain in bunkers or permanent silo storage (includes building, breaking-down and tarping bunkers)
Sweeping, shovelling, blowing down dust and other general housekeeping activities including site presentation
Operating equipment including augers, tractors, hoppers, loaders.
The type of work you undertake depends on the skills, experience, knowledge and tickets or licences you hold as well as the requirements of the site at which you’re based. These attributes also help determine the grade we might appoint you at under our enterprise agreement. The agreement will also set out any provisions available to you such as loading, overtime, allowances, etc.
We provide you with the tools and training required to perform your job effectively and safely. We’re also proud to provide genuine opportunities for our people to take on more responsibility, allowing them to progress further, if desired.
