Job Description
The Role
Our Galley Assistant will assist the Chefs to provide all guests and crew with nourishing meals, to the highest standard at all times.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Our Galley Assistant will assist the Chefs to provide all guests and crew with nourishing meals, to the highest standard at all times.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning and washing of all dishes.
- Ensure galley cleaning and hygiene maintenance is maintained.
- Assistance with food preparation as directed.
- Adhere to the published trip menu cycle ensuring all meals are prepared in readiness for mealtimes.
- Maintain good operational and organisational skills to adhere to galley operations, resulting in good time management.
- Maintain appropriately clean and well organised dry stores, fridges, cool room and freezer.
- Maintain food safety, galley cleanliness and hygiene always, ensuring compliance with HACCP and local council requirements.
- Ensure waste is kept to a minimum.
- Ensure galley equipment is cared for and maintained.
- Provide support and training to joining and training crew.
- Previous experience in a similar role, desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent personal presentation.
- High level of customer service and a passion for food.
- Demonstrated safe working practices mindset.
- Tolerance of others to work and live in a small environment for long periods of time.
- Shipboard rosters are generally 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. This will vary with international itineraries.
- Free accommodation and meals onboard.

- Career paths in Maritime and/or Kitchen with internationally recognised experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications/Documentation Required
- First Aid & CPR.
- Passport.
- AMSA endorsed Certificate of Safety Training (Co ST).
- Crowd Control & Crisis Management.
- AMSA International Medical.
- Australian Seafarers book or other country equivalent discharge book.
