About the Role
Carry out a range of duties as directed, including but not limited to the following:
- Annual Magazine
- Project manage/act as a production editor for the Annual Magazine, which is published each year; ensure the magazine is delivered on time and within budget.
- Liaise with multiple content contributors (staff and students) at any one time, ensuring content submitted meets the article and photo guidelines.
- Proofread text and edit photos to maintain integrity of the story and the school.
- Design and layout pages of the magazine, ensuring each page is ready for print and digital publication.
- Liaise with the external printer to ensure the publication meets all print requirements.
- Every five or so years, update the overall design and look of the magazine; ensure the document retains consistency with previous copies, but refresh the design to suit contemporary publishing and design themes (the next refresh is due for the 2024 Annual Magazine).
- Graphic Design
- Collaborate with staff to produce a range of design outcomes for projects including school-wide certificates (i.e. data merge of up to 1,200 certificates for one event), posters, maps, logos and branding, advertisements and billboards, fillable forms and reports, invitations, Power Points, signage, event programs, seating plans, name badges and more.
- Design and maintain annual school publications (e.g. Senior and Junior course guides), refreshing the design of the document when required.
- Liaise with external suppliers to assist staff with the printing and production of items.
- Maintain the school's Visual Identity Guide and support staff with ensuring the VIG is used across internal and external content.
- Use of poster printer to print works required by the school.
- Other duties
- Assist with and provide support for mail merge emails and documents for teams using a mail merge toolkit plug-in.
- Assist with and support school events as required.
About You
Ideal candidate will have following skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Diploma in Graphic Design or similar.
- Advanced knowledge and skills with using Adobe In Design, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Beginner to intermediate knowledge (and capacity to learn) using other Adobe software such as Premier Pro and After Effects.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills with using Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and Share Point.
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills, along with skills to prioritise tasks across multiple schools.
- High level of written communication skills, including proofreading.
- Ability to assist in the digital organisation of files.
- Knowledge of printing processes, and digital publication processes.
- Initiative to learn new processes (e.g. Adobe data merge and Microsoft mail merge) and use new equipment (e.g. wide-format poster printer).
