Agency Purpose The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs. The Team Based in the AEC’s Tasmania State Office in Hobart, you will join a high-performing team, whose work is integral to the agency’s ability to deliver federal elections and other electoral events, and the proper conduct of those events in accordance with the AEC’s Electoral Integrity Framework. The State Office team supports the administration of Tasmania’s five electoral divisions and is responsible for planning, delivery, and evaluation of a range of projects that support state-wide election delivery, collaborating with the AEC’s national and other state and territory teams to ensure governance and corporate deliverables for Tasmania, and working closely with, and providing critical support to, our divisional network, which is the operational arm of the AEC in Tasmania. The Opportunity This role is part of our dedicated ‘event surge’ team which will work with our permanent State Office team to help deliver the upcoming federal election. The role will involve supporting a broad range of activities, working with a variety of stakeholders, learning and practising new skills, and being part of delivering a unique, nationally significant event. Specifically, this role is expected to support administration and delivery of multiple election delivery plans, monitor reporting tools, and escalate issues where necessary, provide administrative support to the State Leadership Team, including drafting internal communications, making travel arrangements and document management, support select State Office duties and customer service tasks, and consistently model AEC and broader Australian Public Service (APS) values. Once the election is called, the role may also be required to take on new responsibilities at short notice, as agency priorities necessitate and as directed by management. To excel you’ll have:
