About the role
The Editor is responsible for overseeing the content, direction and commercial success of ELLE, one of Australia’s leading fashion and beauty brands. Working under the guidance of the General Manager of Luxury, the position will focus on steering the brand’s omnichannel success, from editing four issues of the magazine a year, contributing to digital and social, to assisting the commercial team with revenue-driving ideation. The Editor must have a passion for - and deep knowledge of - fashion, beauty, culture, trends, the zeitgeist and engaging storytelling, constantly devising way to enhance ELLE’s well-known fashion credentials and ability to spot emerging talent for the Gen Z audience.
The role must show strong leadership skills and an ability to keep to deadlines, within budgets and drive the ongoing production of the title’s excellent content. The Editor will manage an experienced team, liaise with internal stakeholders, and have strong relationships in market in order to grow ELLE’s client base and market share, as well as maintain solid relationships with our valued advertisers.
Duties:

Create engaging content and covers that inspire and excite the audience, and is in line with the overall strategic vision of the brand
Develop and maintain a strong covers strategy and lead its creative vision
Ensure print content is repurposed and/or re-conceptualised for digital
Drive the vision and strategic direction of the brand, adhering to current trends, reader insights and sales results
Manage an experienced, dynamic editorial team on a day-to-day basis
Manage client relationships by working closely with commercial team and partners
Source talent for events, videos and commercial opportunities
Host events and deliver speeches or panel discussions
Represent the brand in media (TV, trade, press)

Skills & Experience:

Strong leadership skills and experience in managing a team
Have commercial nous and strong relationships within the fashion and beauty industries
Ability to work across print and digital, and drive editorial team to contribute content to digital
Experience conceptualising & executing magazine covers and fashion/features shoots alongside a design team
An ability to set challenging goals, think and plan ahead as well as juggle competing demands
Ability to represent the brand at client/industry events, give media interviews to promote the brand, and host events on behalf of ELLE
Experience with editorial software applications and editorial planning tools
Understanding of social media platforms
